» What type of Interpreter do you need?
Interpreting usually takes one of two forms:
- Consecutive Interpreting: here someone will speak for a moment, the interpreter listens and then either summarises it or relays the gist of what was said. Essentially the interpreter works in a back-and-forth manner to translate between parties. This is more useful for one-to-one meetings and small groups.
- Simultaneous interpreting: this type of interpreting is used for conferences or international meetings where many languages are used or where a more instant translation is needed. The interpreter has to relay translations in real time. It should be kept in mind that the nature of this work requires specialist equipment. In addition, if you require this service for a whole day it will be necessary to source at least two interpreters due to the mental fatigue experienced by the work.
